About Course
The Qur'an, revered as the eternal word of Allah, stands as the ultimate guide for Muslims across the globe. Believed to be divinely revealed to Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) over the span of 23 years, the Qur'an has been meticulously preserved and transmitted, remaining unchanged through centuries. This course offers a comprehensive introduction to the field of Ulum al-Qur'an—the science that explores the depths of the Qur'an's revelation, preservation, and transmission.
Students will embark on a journey to understand the divine process of revelation, examining the circumstances and stages in which the Qur'an was revealed. The course will delve into the meticulous methods of preservation, from oral memorization by the companions of the Prophet to the standardized written compilation. The miracle of the Qur'an's transmission will be explored, highlighting the unbroken chain of reciters who have faithfully passed down its words through generations.
In addition, the course will address the concept of the Qur'an’s inimitability (I'jaz al-Qur'an), exploring why the Qur'an is considered a linguistic and literary miracle that cannot be replicated. Participants will also engage with the important topics of Nasikh and Mansukh—the abrogating and abrogated verses within the Qur'an—shedding light on how divine legislation was revealed progressively to address the needs of the Muslim community.
By the end of the course, students will have gained a deeper appreciation for the majestic beauty and complexity of the Qur'anic revelation, understanding not only its divine origins but also the miraculous process by which it has been preserved and transmitted to us in its original form. This course is ideal for anyone seeking to deepen their connection with the Qur'an and uncover the science behind its unparalleled legacy.
