Introduction to Reading and Writing Arabic

This is an introductory course where students will begin their journey to the recitation of the Quran. The course will be most beneficial to students who have little or no background in Arabic. Using the Qa'idah as a guide, students will be taught how to read and write the Arabic alphabet, the long and short vowels, and recognition of the letters both in different forms and in different words and sentences. By the end of the course, students will be able to recognize and read short Qur'anic verses and have the requisite competency to continue studies in perfecting the recitation of the Quran and Arabic as a language. This course will continue in the Spring and Fall Semesters until complete proficiency is achieved. Students who successfully complete this course will be eligible to enroll in Arabic Language Book 1 and Beginner's Tajweed Courses.
